One Local Team for All Your Fire and Security Systems
Faults build up quietly. A detector gets dusty, a battery weakens, a camera drifts out of position, a door lock starts to stick. Nobody notices until an alarm fails to sound, a camera stops recording or a door won’t open in an emergency.
Regular servicing catches problems early, keeps you compliant with fire safety law and your insurer, and gives you the records to prove it.
Full Circuit Fire & Security maintains fire and security systems for businesses across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cumbria. Our team of experts maintains systems we install and systems fitted by other companies.
Bring everything under one local maintenance contract. You get one point of contact, one schedule, one set of records and engineers who know your building.
Why Fire and Security Maintenance Is a Legal Duty
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for a business premises must make sure fire safety equipment, including fire alarms, emergency lighting and fire extinguishers, is maintained in efficient working order and good repair.
If you have a fire and your systems haven’t been maintained, you could face enforcement action, and your insurer may refuse or reduce your claim. Security systems carry similar expectations. Most insurers require monitored intruder alarms to be serviced by a certified company, and police response can be withdrawn if a system isn’t maintained.
A maintenance contract with a certified company is the simplest way to meet these duties.
How Often Do Systems Need Servicing?
Each system has its own recommended schedule:
- Fire alarms: professional servicing at least every six months under BS 5839-1, plus weekly tests by your staff
- Emergency lighting: a monthly functional test and an annual full-duration test under BS 5266-1
- Fire extinguishers: an annual service under BS 5306-3, with an extended service every five years and an overhaul every ten for CO2
- Intruder alarms: at least once a year, and more often for many monitored and police response systems
- CCTV: at least once a year to check cameras, recording and storage
- Access control: at least once a year to check readers, locks, door hardware and power supplies
We’ll build all of this into one maintenance plan, book every visit and remind you when anything is due.
Fire Alarm Maintenance
Your fire alarms need to work every time. BS 5839-1 recommends servicing by a competent person at intervals of no more than six months.
Our engineers carry out routine inspections and servicing to British Standards. We test the control panel, batteries, detectors, call points, sounders and any links to other systems, check for changes to your building that affect the system, and look for causes of false alarms.
You get a detailed report after every visit and an updated fire alarm logbook.
Emergency Lighting Testing
We test and certify emergency lighting to BS 5266-1. That includes the annual full-duration test that many businesses miss, replacing failed batteries and lamps, and issuing your emergency lighting certificate.
Fire Extinguisher Servicing
We service fire extinguishers every year to BS 5306-3, checking each unit is in the right place, full, undamaged and ready to use. We also manage extended services and replacements, so your extinguishers never fall out of date.
Intruder Alarm Maintenance
We inspect and adjust every component of your intruder alarm system, including detectors, door contacts, sirens, batteries and signalling.
That catches faults early, cuts false alarms and keeps monitored and police response alarms compliant.
Access Control Maintenance
We check every reader, lock, door closer, power supply and controller in your access control system, and test that doors on escape routes release correctly when the fire alarm activates.
Faulty parts are repaired or replaced promptly, so your doors stay secure and your team keeps moving.
CCTV Maintenance
We check every camera and recorder in your CCTV system. That includes image quality, focus and position, cleaning lenses and housings, testing recording and playback, checking hard drive health, updating firmware and confirming remote viewing works.
Faults are found and fixed quickly, so your footage is there when you need it.
Cabling Health Checks
Cabling problems can bring down your network and security systems.
We inspect cables, connections and terminations, test performance and repair or replace anything that is worn or damaged.
Is Your System Ready for the Digital Switchover?
The UK’s old copper telephone network is being switched off. Many fire alarms, intruder alarms, lift lines and door entry systems still use it to send signals.
If your system relies on a traditional phone line, it may stop communicating once your line is switched over. We’ll check your systems during maintenance and recommend digital signalling upgrades where needed.
